The Communist Party of India on Friday opposed the participation of two BJP leaders in the International Conference on Asian Political Parties in Sri Lanka.

The participation by two BJP leaders in the ICAPP will hurt the Tamils, “as the Sri Lankan President Rajapaksa is totally responsible” for the human rights violations by the Army against civilian Tamils in the civil war against the rebel LTTE”, party state secretary D Pandiyan said while speaking at the three day state Agricultural Labourers Sangam, an unit of the CPI here.

The conference began on Thursday in Colombo.

He appreciated the Pasumai Veedu scheme in Tamil Nadu, and said it should be for the benefit of the poor.
