Demanding the transfer of the case of suicide of Agricultural Engineering Executive Engineer S. Muthukumarasamy to the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Communist Party of India cadres staged a demonstration in front of the railway junction here on Sunday.

“Honest officer”

Led by former Nanguneri MLA S.V. Krishnan, the party cadres raised slogans, demanding a CBI probe to bring out the truth behind the suicide of the “honest officer”.

“Buried facts”

Addressing the protestors, S. Kasi Viswanathan, district party secretary, said the CB-CID probe announced by the State government to unearth the “buried facts” behind the suicide of Muthukumarasamy was not enough as the needle of suspicion had pointed to a removed State Minister and his personal assistants.

“Mr. Krishnamurthy, popularly known as ‘Agri’ Krishnamurthy, has been removed from the Council of Ministers for his alleged involvement in the suicide of Muthukumarasamy, who was forced to take this extreme step for not paying “bribe” for the appointment of drivers. Hence, the case should be handed over to the CBI so that all facts pertaining to this incident will come out,” Mr. Kasi Viswanathan said.

Party’s Tirunelveli city district secretary C. Lakshmanan, office-bearers R. Kasamuthu, P. Perumbadaiyar, R. Sadaiyappan and A.M. Sathyan also spoke.
