The Madras High Court has issued notices to the R K Nagar MLA-cum- Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and Election Commission officials on a petition filed by a candidate whose nominations for the by-election to the constituency was rejected. T. However, this proposer was allowed to vote.
The petitioner contended that rejection of his nomination was illegal and prayed to set aside Jayalalithaa’s election from the constituency.
Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana, who heard the petition, ordered notices to Jayalalithaa, the Election Commission, State Chief Electoral Officer and Returning Officer.
