Corporation Mayor Malliga Paramasivam on Monday commissioned the system of online payment of professional tax, property tax, water charges and rent.
The civic body has paved way for online payment of taxes utilising debit cards and credit cards through a tie-up with HDFC Bank.
Technology-integration in tax levy would help in cutting down delay in payments, Corporation sources said, advising city residents to log on to erodecorporation.gov.in for making tax payments in future. During the occasion, cheques for revolving funds to the tune of Rs. 11.34 lakh Swarna Jayanthi Swarajgar Yojana scheme were handed over to representatives of 49 women self-help groups.
