Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and Environment (ATREE) has joined hands with Indrani Chelladhurai Charities to constitute Bell Pins and ATREE Conservation Leadership Award.
The first winner of the award would be honoured on May 1 in memory of late industrialist Chelladhurai, founder of Bell Pins, in a glittering ceremony at Bell School auditorium in Palayamkottai, an official statement said. The award ceremony is organised in connection with the birth centenary of Chelladhurai.
Bell Pins has partnered with ATREE, as the Bengaluru-based organisation has been working through their Agasthyamalai Community-based Conservation Centre (ACCC) over a couple of decades. The award comprises Rs.10,000 and a citation. It will be given to an individual or an organisation, which has made outstanding contribution to conservation of nature, environmental education or outreach activities in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts.
