Tamil Nadu will get a favourable final verdict from the Supreme Court on the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) issue on May 16, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami said here on Monday.

Speaking to mediapersons before leaving for Tirupati, Mr. Palaniswami said the Union Water Resources Secretary had submitted the draft Cauvery water sharing scheme in the Supreme Court on Monday morning for its perusal and approval. He had made certain suggestions and observations in the draft scheme.

The Supreme Court has given an assurance that it would consider and approve the water management scheme on May 16 after going through the proposal.

Expressing hope that the State would get a favourable final verdict from the Supreme Court, the Chief Minister said his predecessor Jayalalithaa took effective and serious steps towards resolving the Cauvery issue.

Mr. Palaniswami said his government had always been in favour of the constitution of the Cauvery Management Board and the Cauvery Water Regulatory Authority.
