The Common e-Service Centres (CSC) run by the Tamil Nadu Cable TV Corporation (TACTV) Limited, which had been doing yeoman service to the public, providing a host of certificates required for availing welfare assistance within a short time, has proposed to help State Bank of India (SBI) account holders to do transactions at the Centres.

Giving details of the performance of the CSC at the taluk office here to the reporters who visited the Centre during a press tour on Tuesday, D. Raman, Deputy Manager/Tahsildar, TACTV, said they were holding discussion with SBI officials to offer the service to the public.

Account holders who could not visit the SBI branches or ATMs could draw cash to a maximum of Rs. 10,000 a day at the CSC, he said adding the account holders could also deposit money in their accounts at the Centre.

He said other services in the pipeline included issuing Permanent Account Number (PAN), Voter’s Identity Cards, electricity bill payment and passports with police clearance certificates.

The Corporation was discussing with passport department officials and after establishing the valet link, the CSC would be able to accept the passport fee also, he said.

The Centre has been shifted to the new premises built at a cost of Rs. 7.40 lakh inside the taluk office and offered services to the public with the help of two data operators and a Technical Assistant.

After the facility was launched in February this year, the Centre had issued more than 20,000 certificates to the public, Mr. Raman said.

He said that about 80 per cent of the public visited the Centre for community, nativity, income, first graduation and deserted women certificates for the purpose of submitting for school admissions and for availing various government welfare assistance.

The demand for these certificates was at the peak during May, when an average of 150 people visited the Centre a day, he said.

“People are happy they could get the certificates within three days after registration,” he said. Issuing of plastic Aadhaar card was the latest service introduced at the Centre, he added.
