According to a press release, the Collector conducted an inspection to check mosquito breeding sites at a private firm – Schmecken Agro Food Products Private Limited – in Walajah taluk as part of measures to prevent dengue. The official found larvae of aedes aegypti, the mosquito that spreads dengue, and imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh immediately.

Following this, the Collector inspected the campus of L.F.C. Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Ammoor. As he found there were plenty of mosquitoes breeding in the rainwater collected in unused things on the campus, the Collector imposed a fine of ₹ 10,000. Mr. Raman also visited households in Ammoor town panchayat, the release said.
