Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisami on Saturday said people of the Jain community had played a key role in disaster response and rehabilitation in the city.
Addressing a gathering at the commencement of the ‘Chaturmas vrat’ of Acharya Mahashraman, Mr. Palanisami said Jains had supplied relief material to flood-affected residents of the city in the past few years.
Pointing to the importance given to seers in the community, Mr. Palanisami said members of the community listened to the seers, working for the welfare of others in society. “The government welcomes seers to the State. As the seers lead the Jain community, the State government also continues to be led by the ethical values adopted by Jayalalithaa,” said Mr.Palanisami.
