CM announces solatium

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said the violence in Paramakudi was incited for political gain. She annouced a compensation of one lakh rupees to the next of kin of those killed in the firing.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday announced a solatium of Rs.1 lakh to the family of Palanikumar, a higher secondary student who was killed in an attack by a group of persons on Friday.

In a statement, she said that Palanikumar, son of Thangavelu of Pacheri village of Ramanthapuram, and a student of Government Higher Secondary School, Anaikulam, was attacked by miscreants when he was returning home after watching a drama at Muthuramalingapuram.

Condoling the death of the boy, she said she had instructed the police to initiate immediate action against the culprits
