Clearance for AICTE norms

The Academic Council (AC) of the Pondicherry University has given its clearance for the implementation of the new norms, put in place by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for increasing the eligibility marks for engineering courses.

According to Registrar of the University S. Loganathan, in a recent meeting of the AC, the order of the AICTE to increase the eligibility marks for general category to 50 per cent in the qualifying examinations was given clearance. Also, the eligibility for categories that enjoy reservations would increase to 45% from 40% as per the order, he said.

The order will be implemented once the Vice-Chancellor signs the relevant files, he said. The changes would come into effect from the 2011-2012 academic year.
