Cleaning of roadsides gets off to a start in Erode

The initiative will cover all the 60 wards

The Highways Department, City Corporation, Olirum Erodu Foundation, and other welfare organisations together launched a campaign to clean the roadsides throughout the city limits.

The initiative was launched at Thindal by State Environment Minister Thoppu N.D. Venkatachalam in the presence of District Collector S. Prabakar, Mayor P. Malliga Paramasivam, and Deputy Mayor K.C. Palanichamy.

According to official sources, the initiative will cover all the 60 wards. On the first day, 125 workers of Highways Department, 100 City Corporation workers and 30 volunteers of Olirum Erodu Foundation were involved in the clearing of the roadsides of bushes and dirt.

The launch function also had the participation of District Revenue Officer R. Satheesh, Revenue Divisional Officer of Erode R. Narmada Devi, Divisional Engineer of State Highways Jeyakumar, and Corporation Commissioner R. Mohan.
