A 17-year-old student of Class 12, who reportedly fainted in his school at Periyavadavadi near Vriddhachalam on Wednesday, was declared brought dead to the Vriddhachalam General Hospital. Police said they were waiting for post-mortem results.

According to the police, Sathish, son of Chandrasekhar of Anna Nagar in Vriddhachalam, was in his class at around 7.30 a.m. when he fainted.

The class teacher and school authorities immediately rushed Sathish to the Vriddhachalam General Hospital where doctors examined and pronounced him dead.

Meanwhile, commotion prevailed at the hospital as the family members refused to take the body suspecting foul play in his death.

They alleged that the boy had left for school at around 7 a.m. as he had special classes. They accused the school of leaving him unattended before taking him to the hospital and of delay in informing them. A case of suspicious death has been registered.
