The city police on Thursday rescued a three-and-half-year-old girl child who was kidnapped while getting down from the school van. The police arrested two suspects, including a domestic help.

Police said A. Nandhini, a doctor, in her complaint said she saw the domestic help Ambika going to collect the child from the van.

But the child and Ambika did not reach home. Arul Raj, the doctor’s husband, received a call from Ambika’s mobile number demanding ₹60 lakh in ransom for the release of the child.

On receiving the complaint, police swung into action.

A special team rescued the child and apprehended the two kidnappers. Investigation is on.
