The Cheyyar Health Unit District in Tiruvannamalai has exceeded its target in administering polio drops during Sunday’s pulse polio drive. The HUD targeted to administer the vaccine to 88,189 children and it actually administered it to 89,429 children.

Information Technology Minister Mukkur N. Subramanian inaugurated the drive.

D. Senthilkumar, Deputy Director of Health, told The Hindu that “The drive would continue for two more days.” Administration of the vaccine to wards of migrant workers has increased the HUD’s target by seven per cent, he said.

In Tiruvannamalai, Agriculture Minister Agri S.S. Krishnamurthi inaugurated the drive at Vengikkal Health Sub Centre in the presence of Collector A. Gnanasekaran.
