Chartered Accountants float Trust to help poor students

May 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:06 am IST - Tirupur:

A few chartered accountants in Tirupur have joined together to float a Trust for a noble cause.

Named ‘Tirupur CA Students Trust’, it was formed by five chartered accountants (CAs) with an objective of offsetting the entire cost of studies right from preparations for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) up to clearing the final examinations for those students who come from economically weaker sections of the society.

The Trust also plans to set up a hostel for the poor students from rural areas to stay in Tirupur and prepare for the CPT and articleship courses by attending the classes conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (Tirupur branch).

“Fees for preparatory courses for the CPT itself is almost Rs 6,000 which can be a burden for poor students who cherish the dream of becoming a chartered accountant. By bearing the cost of studies and providing accommodation, we ensure talents did not go waste because of inadequate financial resources from aspirants' side,” S. Rajesh Kannan, chairman of ICAI (Tirupur branch), told The Hindu .
