Chambers give FM a pat on the back

‘Fulfils common people’s aspirations’

Chambers of Commerce gave a thumbs up to the interim Budget presented by Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal.

Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, president of the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the Finance Minister had delivered a high-octane Budget that fulfilled the aspirations of the common men and women who silently supported the building of the Indian economy over the years. He said it was a back-to-basics Budget.

R. Ganapathi, president, The Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the Budget had rightly covered every sector. “Another welcome measure is the introduction of a pension scheme for the unorganised sector. The announcement of container freight at inland waterways can be pivotal to the economy,” he added.

C.A. Rajendra Kumar, president of Hindustan Chamber of Commerce, said the chamber appreciates the requirement for sourcing from SMEs by government enterprises.
