The government is working on cyber security issues and a committee has been set up for this, said Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs.

“We are also in discussions with Japanese scientists and teams from Switzerland. We will take lessons from there with regard to cyber security,” he said addressing a seminar on ‘Secure-E-Banking’ organised by Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) in association with the Cyber Society of India.

Industry experts and bankers at the seminar gave a slew of suggestions to the Minister, including making e-security awareness mandatory and issuing cyber security related details in vernacular language. They said post-demonetisation most transactions were being carried out online and more attention should be given to strengthen security infrastructure.

The main objective of the seminar was to sensitise the bankers on the current developments in the cyber security space and the regulatory requirements connected with it.
