The Central Board of Secondary Education has withdrawn the provisional affiliation given to Hiranandani Upscale School in Kelambakkam with immediate effect.

According to a release, the disaffiliation pertains to Class 10 for secondary school examination and Class 12 for senior school certificate examination.

The affiliation to the school that comes under Kancheepuram district was withdrawn “in view of serious irregularities committed by the school such as running two Boards (CBSE and IB) in the same building; non-availability of school principal; and other violations of affiliation by-laws,” according to the release issued on September 18.

The school has been directed by the Board not to run any class under the CBSE pattern or use the name of CBSE in any manner from the next academic year – 2018-19 – which commences on April 1, 2018.

Students admitted to Classes 10 and 12 would, however, be permitted to appear in the Board’s examinations to be held in 2018 and 2019 after the Chennai regional office ascertains their eligibility as per the examination by-laws, the release said.
