Cargo train breaks down

May 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:05 am IST - TUTICORIN:

A cargo train broke down on Monday, causing an annoying delay for passengers of other trains.

According to sources in Southern Railway, the Tuticorin-bound cargo train hauling coal broke down when a wheel in the leading loco of the wagon got jammed.

To avert any derailment, the authorities halted the train after the problem was noticed between Kumarapuram and Kadambur stations around 10.30 a.m.

The loco was isolated and later two locos from Tirunelveli–Mumbai (Dadar Express) and Nagercoil–Coimbatore passenger train were removed at Maniychi station and attached to the cargo train.

It took almost three hours to get it ready.

Due to this, Tiruchi-Tirunelveli Inter-city Express got delayed by three hours and Tirunelveli- Mumbai (Dadar Express) by two hours, sources said.
