Camps to exchange damaged currency notes evoke good response

The special camps organised by City Union Bank (CUB) and a few other banks here and in Kulasekaram in Kanyakumari district on Saturday evoked good response from the public, said K. Sridharan, Manager, Currency Chest, CUB.

K. Neethiraghavan, General Manager (Issue) of Reserve Bank of India, inaugurated the special camp held in a private marriage hall in Vadiveeswaram here in the presence of M.A. Nazer, Assistant General Manager, RBI.

Currencies and coins totalling Rs. 16,37,800, including 8,29,500 mutilated and damaged notes and coins, were exchanged in the camps, Mr. Sridaran said.

Later in the evening, Mr. Neethiraghavan inaugurated an RBI stall in the government exhibition at Anathaimadam here with a view to educating the public on how to handle currency notes and how to identify fake ones.
