Tuticorin district police have embarked on a mission to educate two-wheeler riders on the significance of saving lives.
Now, helmet has become the catchword of the day. With just two more days away for the deadline for two-wheeler riders to mandatorily wear helmets, a series of awareness programmes have been carried out across Tuticorin district, according to Superintendent of Police Ashwin M. Kotnis.
“Our mission is not to enforce punishments on two-wheeler riders without helmets, but to educate them for the public good”, he said here on Sunday.
Campaigners, including police personnel, students, home guards personnel and automobile dealers reached out the public insisting them to wear helmets through rallies. Besides, pamphlets highlighting the advantages of wearing helmets and disadvantages of not wearing helmets were distributed to the public.
The Tirunelveli district police have come out with a different mission to provide gifts to those wearing helmets to encourage such habit, said Superintendent of Police V. Vikraman. Campaigners stepped up helmet awareness in Tirunelveli town on Sunday.
