Burglars strike at four houses

Thieves broke open four houses in Alagusenai village near Kannamangalam in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday and have stolen 25 sovereigns of gold jewels and 1 kg of silver articles from one of those houses.

Settu, a farmer in the village was sleeping in a room of his house and when he woke up and went to the rear side of the house he was shocked to see the back door broken.

When he further checked, two steel bureaus in the home were also found broken and 25 sovereigns of gold jewels and silver articles weighing one kg were stolen.

Doors of three other houses in the village were also found broken but no significant theft was reported. Kannamangalam police are investigating. — Staff Reporter
