BSP leader remanded to judicial custody

A city magistrate court on Monday remanded K. Armstrong, city councillor and leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, to judicial custody till May 12 in the case relating to a clash among students at the Dr.Ambedkar Government Law College here in November 2008.

On Saturday, he filed an application seeking anticipatory bail. However, it was dismissed as withdrawn. He was later arrested.

On Monday, he was produced before the VII Metropolitan Magistrate, George Town, P. Shanti. Armstrong's lawyer objected to remanding of his client. Later, the court remanded him.
