A 14-year-old boy who went missing from Thoravi near Vikravandi in Villupuram district was found dead in a pond in the village on Thursday. The police said Naveen Kumar, son of Chandrasekhar of Ulagalampoondi, drowned while swimming in the pond.
Kumar was a Class VII student at the Government Middle School and was staying in his grandfather’s house at Thoravi. His grandfather approached the police after the boy did not return home till late on Wednesday.
Locals launched a search and found the boy’s clothes near the pond. They alerted the Fire and Rescue Services personnel who conducted a search and fished out the body on Thursday.
