District Collector N. Subbaiyan has urged bankers in the district to extend credit liberally for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the Bankers Committee meeting here on Thursday, Mr. Subbaiyan pointed out that the State government was implementing various schemes for promoting new enterprises and bankers should extend their full support to the schemes.

Besides, liberal credit should be extended to weaker sections, minorities, women, and backward class people. Credit disbursals to applications received through the District Industries Centre should be completed by July 10.

Rs.4, 897 crore

He appealed to the bankers to increase lending for dairy farming in the district.

S. Sidharthan, Senior Regional Manager, Indian Overseas Bank, and N. Balu, Assistant General Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, were present.

About Rs.4, 897 crore had been disbursed as crop loans by banks in the district this financial year.
