Nabeen, a 7-month-old baby boy, went missing after the mother had given the baby for safe keeping to a bystander here at the Government hospital on Wednesday.
According to the police, the child’s mother Obeena (20) had brought Nabeen to the GH with the complaint of dysentery on Saturday and was admitted as an inpatient.
On Wednesday, the mother had reportedly carried the baby to the tea stall at the GH. When the baby had soiled his pants, Obeena had handed the baby to a bystander and went back into the GH to fetch clean clothes.
But when she returned the baby and the woman were gone missing. The hospital has no CCTV camera on its premises, which has made it difficult for the police to trace the child.
However, the hospital authorities have claimed that the mother was mentally retarded .
