Nadha Sangaman Vizha took place at Sri Danvantri Arogya Peetam, Walajapet in Vellore district on Saturday.
The event saw participation of more than 100 nagaswaram and thavil artistes. Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, who took part in the event, while appreciating the efforts of the artistes, said that nagaswaram and thavil also known as the ‘Mangala Vadyam’ were played on all auspicious occasions. While appreciating the efforts of Sri Danvantri Arogya Peetam in providing treatment to the local people, Mr. Purohit hailed Ayurveda as the science of life and longevity. “It is well known that the science of Ayurveda is based on maintaining the right balance among the three bodily humors — Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
Ancient texts
“The ancient Ayurveda texts speak about several surgical techniques such as rhinoplasty, kidney stone extractions, sutures, and the extraction of foreign objects,” Mr. Purohit said.
He also mentioned that it is to discover and systemically document and propagate the benefits of traditional systems of medicine that the Ministry of AYUSH was formed in November 2014. Mr. Purohit also honoured artists who excelled in their profession with certificates.
Anniversary celebrations
The Mupperum Vizha held at Sri Danvantri Arogya Peetam signifies the anniversary celebrations of the Peedam founder Muralidhara Swamigal’s 58th birthday. The 16 celestial weddings are being planned for Sunday according to Muralidhara Swamigal, founder and managing trustee of Sri Danvantri Arogya Peetam. Earlier, District Collector S.A. Raman and Superintendent of Police K. Pravesh Kumar welcomed the Governor at the venue.
Former judge of Madras High Court, P. Jyothimani, Trustee Nirmala Muralidharan, former MD of Repco Bank, R. Varadarajan, and large number of devotees, sadhus and well-wishers participated in the event.
