The Institution of Engineers (India), Salem Local Centre, has awarded the best senior engineer award to K. Mariappan, vice-president, Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association and president of Salem Productivity Council, here recently. C. Valliappa, Chairman of Sona Group of Institutions presented the award during the 48th Engineers Day celebrations to commemorate the 155th birth anniversary of M. Visvesvaraya. V. Karthikeyan, Chairman of The Institution of Engineers (India) Salem Local Centre, D. Arul Selvam, Secretary presided over the function. Valliappa, Vice-Chairman of Sona Group spoke on ‘Engineering Challenges for Knowledge Era’.

Job mela

A private job mela will be held at the District Employment Office on October 9 at 10.30 am in which private companies take part to recruit candidates for the post of marketing executive, salesman, supervisor, manager, computer operator, typist, accountant, cashier, mechanic. Men and female candidates who have completed their diploma, graduation or school level education can participate in the mela. Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy, in a press release, said that candidates who have already registered in the District Employment Office can also participate as their registration will not be cancelled if they got job in the participating companies.
