Three men were arrested on Monday in connection with the attack on a police constable on duty at a check post in Thally last week.

The accused, Srinivasan of P.Chettipalli, was arrested along with his accomplices Madhu (19) and Umesh Kumar (26).

Unidentified men had attacked constable Mariappan with a knife during the early hours of October 21. The constable was rescued by the personnel in the nearby revenue check post.

Logbook

A week after the incident, arrests were made after screening the logbook of all vehicles that had passed through the day.

Inquiry revealed that the accused had indulged in an altercation with Mariappan, when the latter intercepted their car for a check during the day. Following this, the men had returned to attack the constable.

Srinivasan was also wanted in chain-snatching incidents in Karnataka.
