DMK president M.K. Stalin on Wednesday said his party’s approach on Mekedatu issue would depend on the resolution likely to be adopted in the special session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Thursday.
Talking to reporters at the Chennai Airport, he said the special session was a welcome step and that the DMK would express its views depending on the resolution adopted.
‘Indifferent govt.’
He also recalled the meeting held in Tiruchi to condemn the decision to allow Karnataka to prepare the Detailed Project Report to construct a dam at Mekedatu.
Accusing the State government of remaining indifferent to the problems of the people in Cyclone Gaja-affected areas, he charged that the AIADMK government had surrendered itself to the BJP government for its survival.
‘More needed’
“The people of the Cauvery delta who feed the State through paddy cultivation are unsure of a single meal. The Centre should give more than what the State government has demanded. It is the opinion of all parties,” Mr. Stalin said.
