Arrested

A man was arrested after he fell asleep in the house of an elderly stranger, who he had pushed to death in an inebriated state in Palacode on Monday.

The accused Manikandan of Vellamuthur village was returning from a relative’s function on Monday night. According to the police, Manikandan was in an inebriated state and was picking on passers-by.

The victim Lakshmi (75), was sitting outside her house, when Manikandan picked on her as well.

Lakshmi reprimanded Manikandan. Irked by this, Manikandan pushed her down.

Lakshmi died after her head banged against a stone.

Later, Manikandan went inside her house and fell asleep. The victim was found dead by her son, who returned home. He also found Manikandan fast asleep inside his house. Police picked up Manikandan and registered a case.
