Applications invited for pre-matric scholarships

Applications have been invited from students belonging to minority communities such as Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Parsees and Jains studying in standards I to X in government, aided and government-recognised educational institutions for the award of pre-matric scholarships for the year 2015-16.

In a release issued here, Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan said, only those students whose parental/guardian’s annual income did not exceed Rs. one lakh are eligible for the scholarship. Besides, the students should have obtained not less than 50 per cent marks in the previous final exams (except for Std. I), and should not have availed themselves of other scholarships during the year.

The students pursuing standards I to VIII can download the applications for fresh scholarship or scholarship renewal from the website, www.bcmbcmw.tn.gov.in and submit the completed applications at the institutions in which they are studying before July 15.

Students of standards IX and X should download the applications from the website, www.scholarship.gov.in and send the applications only through the online mode.

While applying online they should scan the necessary documents and upload them on the website.

After applying online, they should download the completed applications, take a printout and submit them at the concerned educational institutions before July 31.

The heads of institutions should verify the applications of students of standards I to VIII, register them in the demand list and submit the list to the District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Officer before July 25. The applications of students of standards IX and X should be forwarded online before July 31, the release said.
