Mr Patchaimmal was, till now, the party organising secretary-cum-Kaniyakumari (East) district secretary and Mr Murugesan, joint secretary of the MGR Mandram, according to a release issued by T.T.V. Dhinakaran, general secretary of the AMMK.

To handle the affairs of the party in the Kaniyakumari (East) district, a six-member-committee, headed by S.V.S.P. Manickaraja, has been constituted.

When approached, the former Minister told The Hindu that he, Mr Murugesan along with a “large number of members” of the AMMK would return to the parent party AIADMK shortly in the presence of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
