Amma Cement a hit in Tiruvannamalai

The subsidised cement scheme of Tamil Nadu government, Amma Cement, that promises to bring in a relief for construction industry has received positive response in Tiruvannamalai District in the first few days of its introduction.

Nearly 19 godowns, including eight taluk godowns of Tamil Nadu Civil Supply Corporation and 11 godowns run by the Department of Rural Development has received stocks of Amma Cement and started selling them to public.

Collector A. Gnanasekaran told The Hindu that the sales of Amma Cement begun on Tuesday in the district. The district received 448.95 metric tonne of Amma Cement and sold 186.15 tonne out of them till Thursday.

The cement bags would be given to people on the basis of their registration seniority.
