All-India volleyball tourney to be held from June 8

The all-India volleyball tournament for TMB Trophy, to be hosted by Tamilnad Mercantile Bank in association with Thoothukudi District Volleyball Association, will be conducted at S.A.V. School ground here from June 8 to June 14, S. Selvan Rajadurai, Chief General Manager, TMB, said at a press conference here on Wednesday evening.

11 teams

Seven teams for men and four teams for women have expressed their interest in participating in the tournament.

Teams from New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kerala, Chennai, Hyderabad and Secundrabad would compete in this tournament, which would see the participation of several players who had played at international level, he said.

Matches would commence at 7 p.m. and entry was free for spectators.

A gallery to accommodate 5,000 spectators had been set up, he added.

T. John Vasikaran, president of Thoothukudi District Volleyball Association, S. Ramesh Kumar, secretary, S. Ravirajan, treasurer, and members of the association were present.
