Alagappa University Convocation on January 29

As many as 33,491 students, including 19,931 girls, would be conferred with degrees at the 27th convocation of Alagappa University to be held here on January 29.

Tamil Nadu Governor and University Chancellor K. Rosaiah would preside over the convocation and Education Minister and Pro-Chancellor of the University P. Palaniappan would offer felicitation, a release from the University said. Dr. Lalji Singh, former Director, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, and former Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University, would deliver the convocation address, it said.

S. Kaliyamoorthy, Vice-Chancellor, Officiating Committee, said 216 students, including 100 Ph.D. scholars and 20 M.Phil. rank holders from the university departments would receive the degrees in person.

He said 26 gold medallists of postgraduate (PG) and undergraduate (UG) programmes of the University departments, 58 rank holders of PG and UG and M Phil programmes from the affiliated colleges and 12 rank holders from collaborative programmes would also receive the degrees in person from the Governor.
