DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Tuesday alleged that the AIADMK government that lacked the courage to convene an all-party meeting to condemn the Centre had enacted a farcical drama in the name of fasting for a day for the constitution of the Cauvery Management Board.

“If they have real concern for the farmers and are interested in protecting their livelihood they should have convened an all-party meeting and adopted a resolution condemning the Centre for its failure to constitute the Cauvery Management Board,” he told reporters after meeting DMK cadre who were arrested when they staged a protest under the leadership of former Chennai Mayor Ma. Subramaniam here.

Mr. Stalin said the state government convened a silent meeting from morning to evening and it was not clear what was transpired in the meeting and what decisions were taken in connection with the Cauvery Management Board.

“It has prostrated before the BJP government at the Centre and it failed to bring pressure on it. It lacks the moral courage,” he alleged.
