The “Namadhu Amma,” a Tamil daily to be brought out by the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), will be launched on Saturday, coinciding with the 70th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

At a brief event at the daily's office in Alwarpet here, Chief Minister and co-coordinator of the party Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister and coordinator O. Panneerselvam will light the traditional lamp. Later, they will formally launch the newspaper at the party’s headquarters in Royapettah.

In August last year, the party began to feel the need for a newspaper as the control over Dr. Namadhu MGR , regarded as an organ of the party till then, remained under rebel leader of the party, T.T. V. Dhinakaran, who was sidelined following re-union of groups led by Mr Palaniswami and Mr Panneerselvam.

Marudhu Alagaraj, who was in charge of the editorial operations of Dr. Namadhu MGR , is now looking after the ruling party’s newspaper project. The new paper will have a minimum of 12 pages.
