Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Su Thirunavukkarasar on Sunday alleged that the AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu was a “benami government” of the BJP, and that there was confusion over whether there was an AIADMK or a BJP Chief Minister in the State.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Thirunavukkarasar said that the intra-party politics in the AIADMK was affecting governance, and that Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami was not capable of taking any decisions. “They (AIADMK) are being forced by the Central government,” he said.

The TNCC leader blamed the BJP for the crisis in the AIADMK. “First, they tried to break the AIADMK and threatened them with various tactics. Now, they are trying to fix the issues in the AIADMK,” he charged.

He also urged the State government to ensure that the demands of transport employees regarding emoluments and work conditions were fulfilled. “The common man’s mode of transport is generally buses. If they go on strike, it will affect the daily lives of people and the State will come to a standstill,” he said.

“There is also a major problem of water scarcity. The State and Centre should tackle this,” he said.
