An AIADMK functionary suffered injuries after he was allegedly stabbed by a rival group in the party on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred when Prabakaran, who contested the Krishnarayapuram town secretary post of AIADMK unsuccessfully, was standing at the bus stand. A group of persons confronted Prabakaran and picked up a quarrel and stabbed him. They also attacked his brother Yuvaraj, who came to his rescue. Both of them have been admitted to the Kulithalai Government Hospital. The condition of them was said to be stable, sources said. Inner party rivalry is suspected to be the reason behind the attack.
