Action against police for receiving bribes

As many as 13 police personnel, including six special sub-inspectors, who were found to be receiving money from vehicle users while on duty on highways, were transferred to Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts. Superintendent of Police R. Sakthivel received information that personnel in the units were receiving money from vehicle users on the highways. It was found that special sub-inspectors Kandasamy, Shivaji, Thirumoorthy and Manimegalan along with constables Mathiyalagan and Gyanasekaran of Sankari patrol units and Chinnaraj, Karunanidhi, Ravi of Omalur patrol units were receiving money from vehicle users. All nine were transferred to District Armed Reserve. Also, special sub-inspectors Madheswaran, Kamaraj and constables Balamurugan, Venkadachalam of Attur units were involved in the same act. Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Salem Range Vidhya D. Kulkarni held inquiries and confirmed that they received money. Hence, the nine personnel in Armed Reserve were transferred to Dharmapuri while personnel in Attur units were transferred to Krishnagiri districts.
