May 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - Tirupur:

District Child Protection Officer C. Ashok Kumar on Tuesday handed over the abandoned new born boy found in the city a few days back to a government recognised adoption home in Salem. Mr. Ashok Kumar told The Hindu that the boy was handed over by his mother to another woman waiting for a bus alongside Tirupur-Palladam road.

The mother did not return to collect the baby. The woman, with the help of people in the locality, handed over the child to the District Headquarters hospital.

After ascertaining the health, the baby was produced before the District Child Welfare Committee which ordered the handing over to the adoption home, said Mr. Ashok Kumar.
