A helmet selfie could get you a prize

June 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - DHARMAPURI:

A selfie may perhaps be used for a greater common good. Or so the police here believe and have now hit upon a novel idea to create awareness on wearing helmets.

Superintendent of Police J. Loganathan has invited the public to post selfies with helmets, accompanied by a caption, on the police WhatsApp number.

That is not all.

A personal video testimony on how helmet has helped avert an irrevocable hurt, or alternatively on how not wearing a helmet has altered one’s life course could also be posted.

Similarly, a short film of five minutes on helmet awareness is also invited.

While the contests of selfies and video testimonies will fetch three prizes of Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 1,000 for the three best submissions, the short film will be awarded Rs. 15,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 for the top three submissions.

“The best selfies with captions will be used on flex boards on helmet awareness,” says Mr. Loganathan. Submissions could be sent on WhatsApp on 9445652253.
