Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam president Vijaykanth has dubbed the visit of a delegation of MPs from Tamil Nadu to Sri Lanka as ‘eyewash.’

The ruling DMK Government, after letting down the Sri Lankan Tamils totally, is now staging a drama by sending the MPs just to watch the sufferings of the Tamils in the island nation, he told reporters here on Sunday.

All the political parties in the State were not consulted and the delegation includes only the MPs from DMK and its allies. No MPs from opposition parties were included, which once again showed how unconcerned is the Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi about the welfare of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Mr.Vijaykanth also blamed the DMK Government for not taking any efforts to alleviate the sufferings of the Tamil Nadu fishermen, who were often subjected to harassment by the Sri Lankan Navy.

Earlier, he launched his party’s ‘Pengal Natin Kangal’ scheme in the district and provided a sum of Rs.10, 000 in the form of deposits to the girl babies born on August 25.
