The Union government has informed the Supreme Court that it has approved the first year MBBS admissions in Dharmapuri Medical College on Friday. But, the actual admissions could be effected only after getting the Government Order in this regard. It will take at least three or four days from today, Dr. V. Kanakasabai, Dean told The Hindu .

He said all arrangements are kept ready to admit the students as soon the GO reached the college. “We will finish the admission procedure within a day,” Dr. Kanakasabai said.

He said he is extremely happy to hear the news about the government’s nod for the MBBS admission in the first year and for second year students to continue their studies.

Counselling for admission was held in Chennai on September 28 and allotment letters were issued to 84 students. Fifteen seats were allotted under the All India quota.

Students who came to the college on September 30, returned home after a brief stay in Dharmapuri. The date of admission would be informed to the students over phone, Dr. Kanakasabai added.
