DINDIGUL: Two persons were killed on the spot and five others injured when the van they were travelling in overturned on National Highway 7 at Pallapatti village near here in the early hours of Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Anbukarasai (55) and Silva (15) of Chinna Thirupathi in Salem district.
The van driver, who was trying to overtake a lorry on the highway, lost control of the vehicle, which overturned. The five injured persons were rushed to Dindigul Government Hospital for treatment.
All the victims were on a pilgrimage to Rameswaram from Chinna Thirupathi.
A case has been registered in this connection.
