Trains passing through the Uthukuli-Vijayamangalam stretch hit stones placed on the track on Tuesday night. Railway sources told The Hindu that Nagercoil-Coimbatore passenger and Kanyakumari-Mumbai Express trains hit the stones.
Drivers of the trains reported the matter to authorities and proceeded without stopping the trains. The ‘cattle guard' fitted in front of the engines averted possible danger.
