Three college girls end life in Viluppuram

Three girl students of a private naturopathy and yoga college allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a private agriculture well opposite to college campus at Bangaram near Chinna Salem on Saturday.

The victims have been identified as T. Monisha (19) of Chennai, A. Saranya (19) of Kancheepuram and V. Priyanka (19) of Tiruvarur studying second year in the SVS Naturopathy and Yoga College.

Locals found the bodies floating and alerted the police. Police and Fire personnel immediately rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies and sent them for post-mortem to the Government Medical College and Hospital at Mundiyambakkam.

For the last few months, students of the college have been protesting against lack of infrastructure and exorbitant fees collected by the management.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on. One of the college administrators is reportedly being interrogated by police in this connection, sources said.

Last October, six students of the college attempted suicide by drinking poison in front of the Villupuram Collectorate to protest against the authorities for failing to take any action on their complaints.
