Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K.V. Thangkabalu issued a showcause notice to party MLA S. Jeyapaul, representing Colachel constituency in Kanyakumari district, for indulging in anti-party activities.

“You have indulged in anti-party activities by deliberately disregarding the rules of the Indian National Congress and disobeyed the directions of the party in the process of Youth Congress elections in Kanyakumari district,” the notice issued on Saturday said.

Mr. Jeyapaul is the president of the Kanyakumari East district's party unit and has been accused of interfering with the Youth Congress elections.

A copy of the notice has been sent to AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is in charge of party affairs in Tamil Nadu.
